With 16 years at global communications agencies and as a consultant, Karen Halsey has led a broad variety of major product and corporate communications initiatives in support of her clients’ business goals. Karen has been working with select science and health care clients at Brazer Communications since 2007.
During her career, Karen has managed include product, corporate, crisis and internal communication programs for such companies and brands as: Acclarent (Balloon Sinuplasty™), Acuson (Sequoia®), Amgen (corporate), BioCentury Publications (BCIQ™, corporate), BioMarin (Kuvan®), Boston Scientific (Close the Gap, MADIT-CRT), Connetics (Olux-E®, AT-RISC), Corgentech (E2F Decoy), Covidien (Venefit™), Élan (bapineuzumab), FoxHollow Technologies (SilverHawk™), Genentech (Rituxan®, Herceptin® and corporate), Medtronic (Find the AAAnswers©, Every Patient First), Novacea (Asentar™), PDL BioPharma (daclizumab, corporate), Us TOO International (advocacy), and Vicuron (dalbavancin, Eraxis™, corporate). She also has recently worked for Boston Scientific and held executive positions at global communications agency WCG and Ketchum Public Relations (San Francisco).
Karen’s experience spans a variety of therapeutics areas, including oncology, cardiology, vascular disease, dermatology, neurology, endocrinology/metabolic disorders and infectious disease. Her key strengths include strategic marketing communications, strong written/verbal communication skills, media relations, social media engagement and strong analytical/critical thinking skills.
Karen received a bachelor’s degree in communications from California State University, Sonoma and her master’s degree in public relations from Golden Gate University.
